Philosophy and Theology Posts From Around II

I thought I’d list a few posts from around I’ve found interesting of late. Yeah I did it just a few days ago. But there’s a lot out there.

I’m still trying to decide if I want to bring back my old side blog for links like this or two small postings. The advantage to the side blog is that I can just give a quick link and brief annotation as I go through the day. The disadvantage is tweaking the PHP code for WordPress so as to get a sideblog. (If anyone knows of some good links for something that already does this please send it my way) The advantage to doing it in a single post is that I can make longer comments and then others can add their own comments.

Anyway, tell me what you think.

First up in the list of links is Mormon Mentality which is doing an extended reading club on Rough Stone Rolling. (Here’s a list of my posts on it from the old blog) MM’s posts thus far are the introduction, Bushman, Brodie and Respectability, Fatherhood and Fraud, Where the Environmentalist Argument Fails, and Revelation. That’s quite a few posts in just a few days. Many of the comments are worth reading.

Next up was an other post at Mormon Mentality on Joseph Smith as Anti-Mystic. That probably should be read relative to the Juvenile Instructor’s posts on Emerson (Here and here) I made lots of comments at both sites. Some might find my post on mysticism from the old blog useful as well.

Steve over at BCC has an interesting post in his series on funny and perhaps ‘controversial’ scriptures he gets everyone to discuss. This one is on Matt 15:21-8 and an apparently racist story about Jesus. It’s one of those stories that kind of makes you cringe when you think about it.
