Brian Weatherson on Timothy Williamson’s principle of charity – to read others so as to maximize what they know. Williamson is one of those philosophers I love to read and whose ultimate positions I often agree with but whose arguments I typically disagree with. I’ve not yet read his new book The Philosophy of Philosophy.
