Historical Dynamics and contingent conditions of religion. Fascinating discussion by Razib on why states rise and fall. Tied up into a discussion of Rodney Stark’s work. Of course I’m skeptical of Stark after he said Mormonism would be this continually increasing religion while growth has been almost flat the last 10 years or so.
