Discoveries Merely About Concepts

Are discoveries merely about concepts? Interesting question that starts with Gettier’s discovery. Was it about knowledge or our concept of knowledge? This, I think, gets into a very fundamental issue about philosophy. Being the Peircean I am I think this is tied to the question about whether universals are real.
