Fernie Pillar

A possibility (unlikely) for the Fernie Pillar. This is located just before the Red Rock Canyon parking pot, on the West side of Blackiston Creek.

I have never been up this route. I have looked for it for years, but have never been able to see this mythical climb. I have a strong feeling that it is actually the northern of two routes opposite Lost Horse Creek (Hip Wader Gully). The only problem is the climb does not appear to be anywhere close to 90m or fit the description in Josephson's guide "a full pitch of vertical ice with a belay in a tree to the right". Perhaps it was a rarely formed route hidden on the north side of Blackiston, up towards Blackiston Falls. Due to the road closure, I don't imagine many people are going to go trompin around back here to find it.
