Leaky Lucy

W4 - 40m

Two similar climbs exist halfway up the red rock highway, located in the drainage coming out of the west face of Blackiston. These climbs are barely visible as you head up the Red Rock Higway. The best approach is to get to the Crandell Lake Campground by heading up over the pass from the Crandell Lake turnoff on the Cameron Higway. Follow an old service road up to the base of Ruby Creek. To get to this service road, keep heading left at any major junction. Just to the right of the start of the service road is the Church Camp bridge over Pass (Blackiston Creek). At the end of this service road is a cement pump house. Head up the creek drainage trying to stay on the hillside to the right. A long slog of 2.5 km or about an hour gets you to a small headwall where two drainages meet. I am not certain which climb is which, I have guessed the Leaky Lucy is the Left Hand, and harder of the two climbs. Significant avalanche terrain is above this climb. While a majority of the slope blows clear, be wary during unstable, high snow times.
