BEAR CREEK

Bear creek is a great begginer to intermediate creek, that has an extremely short season. The creek is short, and extremely continuous. The current is fast, there are no real eddies, and the creek is shallow and full of rocks. Because of this swimming is a bad idea. You should be confident with read and run boating. There are only 2 rapids of distinction. The first one occurs about 50m before the underpass, the second is about 200m below this. At high flows, both have fairly tight maneuvring through tight boulder gardens. Flows on the creek peak about one to weeks before the middle fork of the Flathead. Usually the creek is runnable when the middle fork is above 10,000cfs.
