UPPER HIKE

This is a bit of work for two distinct drops that are often covered in wood. The first rapid consists of a short set up into 2 narrow channels around a large boulder. Either line goes. Broaches are the biggest concern. The next rapid has two distinct lines. Going with the main current left, throws one into a very intimidating undercut, boiling hole with little recovery time for the large waves and holes that follow below. A cleaner (and safer) line is to the right. A narrow channel pours cleanly over a 4 foot drop before joining back up with the froth in the main channel.

For the put in, hike about 500m up the Snowshoe cabin trail. Where the trail makes a right hand turn and starts a short climb up the hill, head down to the river that is visible just through the trees. You can take out at the bridge at the base of Red Rock Canyon, or, assuming the flows are good enough, continue down to the Crandell Lake Campground.
