LOWER CAMERON

This run is very different in character from the upper section. In place of a pool and drop creek with large, but relatively safe features, the lower run is characterized by technical boulder sieves with severe consequences. This is not a run on which to find your limits.

At low flows the run is a boulder bash. At high flows some of the sieves become more feasible, however, the main drop in the creek starts to become quite stout, making for a tough run either way. Try feeling things out at low flows during the start of July.

While it is possible to port around a large unrunable waterfall near the Alderson creek confluence, this port has beome infamous in Stuart Smith's book, and is definitely not recommneded. At any rate, there are few real features beyond this point other than Final Insult, the V+ drop directly above a couple of deadly features. Consider paying your dues by hiking out the steep hilside before the portage. I have not done the run below the portage, and so no info is included in the topo.
