This double set of ledges is a bit difficult to scout from the river. The best idea is to go to the gas landing on the south side of the river where you can scout the entire canyon section (Epi - Pen, Red Rum and Bottomwash). Follow the wire fence down to the river (just above bottom wash) and then head upstream. The drops have sizeable caves on river right. At anything above medium flows, getting out of these requires a throw rope and a good pull. At high flows these caves appear serious. There is not enough room to turn a boat around, the holes still grab on the corners, and lots of small pieces of lumber are jammed into the back. Hence sticking to the left side of the drop seems prudent, although it forces you to contend with walls extending out from the left.
