DRYWOOD
This is an extremely low volume creek that contains about a half dozen large drops on the lower run. If bouncing off rocks in a 1⁄2 meter deep river, and sliding down large ledges into shallow pools isn’t your idea fun, this will definitely not be your river. Most of the severe drops are located in a tight canyon. Make sure you run this at low flows before you try it at any other level. A number of the drops push up against slightly overhanging walls. Safety is relatively easy to set for the larger drops around epi pen.
It is located just to the west of the Waterton shell plant. From Pincher Creek travel south along highway #6 toward Waterton. Just past a railroad bridge, a road marked “Waterton Shell Plant” takes off to the west. Drive 9.0 km along this paved road, turning left onto a dirt road at the Shell field officesign. At 12.8 km the dirt road drops down a short but steep hill. Halfway down this hill, the road forks at a small lake. Take the left fork. At 14.2 km, you will come to a t-intersection. Turn left (south). Drive up a large hill, and down the other side. Head up the valley at the bottom of the hill. At the gate you should see a map giving directions to Bovin Lake.
