This is a very nice looking ledge / chute combination. It drops about 10 to 15 feet in a run of about 40 feet. The water has quite a bit of velocity here, making this drop quite different in character from anything else on the run. This drop is recognized by the dark grey rock band where it starts. This marks the start of the St. Mary's Canyon. About 100m below this drop is the deadly St. Mary's Falls. There is only one eddy of note between this drop and the falls. It is on the river left just above the lip of the drop. While the eddy is very large, it is composed of sloping slabs of rocks. A mistake in catching this eddy or blowing the drop would be fatal. There are some spots on the river right where the current slows against the low cliff sides, making the drop more feasible, but nonetheless highly risky.
