TWO MEDICINE

Located near East Glacier's entrance, this is a picturesque river with a unique character divided into two distinct sections separated by a 20 foot waterfall with a scrambly portage. Dam control means unusual releases that seldom reach high flows. Low is 700cfs, high are above 1200cfs

The upper section starts at a bridge ~3km north of the town of East Glacier, towards Two Medicine Lake. Park southeast of the bridge on reservation land. It is characterized by sweeping corners and midsized eddies

Below the waterfall, the river flows over bedrock, producing unique rapids and compression waves similar to the Livingstone river. The river is constantly bouncy.

Take out is on the northeast side of the highway bridge. It is a 200m climb up a grassy slope. It is also possible to continue about 15km further down stream to take out near Heart Butte. This continues the bouncy class I+ to II- water one encounters near the bridge.
