LUNDBRECK FALLS

Introduction

Lundbreck Falls is a pleasant summer picnic destination for local families and fishermen. The falls drop about 30 feet making a reasonable amount of spray well into the start of July. It is not, nor ever will be a destination for climbing. The three routes at the area do have some reasonable climbing on them, however, the smooth dusty nature of the rocks may not appeal to many.

Getting There

To get to Lundbreck Falls from Lethbridge head along Highway 3 about 20km past the town of Pincher Creek. On your left, before descending a large hill is the town of Lundbreck. At the bottom of the hill you have two options to get to the falls. Go left on the paved side road, or continue along the highway for 1 km where the official turnout to the falls is located. Parking is well developed. Climbing is on the north rim of the canyon.

Due to some recent comments on live-the vision, I have decided to take down any arbitrary names that were given to routes. These names were originally given for a few reasons. After 9 years trying to find out who did what, I figured little new information would come out (FA's either not being interested in having the area published, or having moved away, died, or become removed from the climbing scene). Once conclusive information can be obtained, route names will again be posted. If any one knows specifics, please email me at cgoble @ allstream.net (no spaces).

From the information I could get out of some locals in Pincher, these routes were put up some time ago. I was not told by whom, I believe the info I got was something like "some of us had been around there a before", and could not get any more. This information was back in 92 or 95. I had not been able to get any more, and messages to contact names were never returned. I believe it was the Pincher Crowd who did the routes, but I am unsure (hence no previous information - why give a couple of paragraphs of information about which you or others are unsure)
