WEDGE
Introduction
Wedge mountain is a small crag located close to the town of Coleman. It contains some of the best climbing in the whole region. The climbs are located on a relatively long outcropping of volcanic rock. Climbs are usually high quality slightly overhanging pocket pulls. Routes continue to the top of the bluff to lowering stations composed of chains or metolius rap hangers. These large radius bolts are designed to have ropes threaded directly through them. Loose rock is not a problem, but an overabundance of lichen can be. Large amounts of wild raspberry bushes are found at the base of the routes. They make good eating but prickly walking.
Currently Blairmore locals have spent some time cleaning and working the routes to the north of the established climbs. Expect updates by next summer.

Getting There
The routes are located on the east side of Wedge mountain. To get there drive to the end of the town of Coleman and follow the road up McGillivray Creek to the north. A small sign labeled "McGillivray Youth Camp" can be seen about 50m before the gate on the main highway. 0.1km past the turn off from the highway, the road forks. Tae the left fork, continuing for another 2.9km. Here you will find a large field with a small dirt road heading off to the east. The road crosses a small stream at its start before following the general direction of the power lines. Unless you have good clearance on your car, park here and walk for 200m to where the road starts to head up a steep hill. About halfway up this hill, on the left side there is a small piece of blank plywood nailed to a tree. Head through the bush to the left about 15m before this sign. If you are lucky should should find a good game trail that circles the small hill before going through a marshy area and on up to the cliff. If you head directly to these outcroppings you will be a few hundred meters past the established climbs. The climbs are located far to the left of the volcanic rock outcropping.
