ALDERSON

Laying along the popular Carthew-Alderon trail, also known as "The Summit", this peak should get climbed more often than it does. However, 16km of hiking normally is more than enough for most people. If you get to Carthew Lakes and still have lots of energy, consider taking an extra 3 to 4 hours to make it to the top of this mountain. The views to the west are quite nice. You have sufficient height to see Kintal and Kinnerly Peaks above Kintla lakes as well as Long Knife Ridge above the Starvation valley. Perhaps the best views are between you feet. At the summit, the north face literally falls away between your feet. A nice wind shelter has been built on top. Its existence should give you a hint as to the desirability of being up on this exposed slope during Waterton's infamous winds. If you thought the summit pass was windy, wait till you get up on this peak.

This peak was also named for one of the original bounday commision members.
