Joseph Smith Conference
January 25, 2005

I just thought I'd drop a note about the upcoming conference on Joseph Smith at the Library of Congress in Washington, D.C. So if you are back east and are interested it sounds like it should be a great conference with some very impressive speakers. Not only are there the "regulars" like Jan Shipps or Richard Bushman but there are also notable figures such as Margaret Barker speaking. The conference is from May 6 - 7 so even people from the west might be able to make it.

Somewhat interesting is that Richard Mouw is speaking. You may recall the "controversy" that erupted in the Evangelical community a few months ago when he apologized to Mormons for some of the anti-Mormon writings that intentionally misrepresent Mormon beliefs. That didn't go over well among some. (Even though it seemed a rather innocuous comment, in my view) So it will be interesting to see what he says. He is giving the response to "Joseph Smith Challenges the Theological World."
