It’s funny, but it’s also quite true. I think it captures why so many think geeks are being inefficient in their tasks. Most people don’t do the same tasks a lot. Also, geeks generally relax writing these sorts of things. I know probably half of my scripts were as much me relaxing and trying to clear my head from whatever I was working on at the time. That they make me much more efficient is just icing on the cake.
To be fair too, if you have a series of building blocks rather than just one off scripts the time spent is much less which makes the area in that triangle on the left much smaller. I’m a big advocate in creating for yourself a kind of scripting toolbox.
